Career paths are rarely linear. When my dreams of becoming a professional basketball player ended after I stopped growing at a towering 5 feet, 8 inches, I had to pivot (pun intended). After a brief stint in academia, I’ve held roles in marketing, communications, customer experience, and management. Each position taught me lessons that I carried with me into the next chapter of my career.
My experience is far from unusual. According to a recent LinkedIn article, professionals entering the workforce today are expected to hold twice as many jobs over the course of their careers as those who entered just 15 years ago. Career reinvention is the name of the game for data professionals, too.
In this month’s issue, we explore ideas that can help move your career forward. Discover why human judgment remains essential in an increasingly automated and AI-driven world, hear how three data professionals navigated unexpected twists and turns in their careers, learn strategies for balancing efficiency and effectiveness, and explore a framework for streamlining processes without sacrificing quality.
